The lighter negative space ever so faintly has a line from a Duran Duran song entitled "Reach up For the Sunrise". It reads, "Only change will bring you out of the darkness. In this moment, everything is born again." There are many lines scratched back here to reveal the underpainting. As you move closer to the coloured area, the painting gets more dramatic. The multicoloured top part of the painting is your complex personality in all its glory, coming to the surface and being unapologetically you. Past persecutions of who you were fall away, and every colour and mark represents an aspect of you in all of its glory. How many times have we hid who we are because it wasn't accepted as mainstream, or we had to conform because we wanted to be accepted?
